University of British Columbia Okanagan

The University of British Columbia Okanagan (UBCO) opened in 2005, and is located in Kelowna, British Columbia. As part of the University of British Columbia network, UBCO is part of one of North America’s largest public research and teaching institutions.

The University of British Columbia Okanagan was purpose-built for modern academic and professional pursuits. The University’s goal is to foster a sense of global citizenship by creating an intimate learning environment that encourages new ways of thinking through close interaction between students and faculty.

With more than 600 research projects underway, the University of British Columbia Okanagan is developing an international reputation for research excellence. The University aims to be a leader in the discovery and scholarship for scientific, technological, social, and cultural innovation in Canada and around the world.

The University of British Columbia Okanagan offers programs in faculties such as Nursing, Arts and Sciences, Education, Engineering, Health and Exercise Science, Medicine, and Management.

The University of British Columbia Okanagan campus has undergone over $450 million of expansion since 2011, including new scientific research facilities, arts and sciences buildings, and engineering and management buildings.

The University of British Columbia is one of the two Canadian universities that are consistently ranked among the top 40 post-secondary institutions in the world.

Campus Life

The UBCO Campus Life office oversees a number of organizations and events that allow students to get involved with their campus community. Events range from learning conferences and academic seminars to fitness bootcamps, cultural celebrations, and sports events.

State-of-the-art recreational facilities host a variety of varsity and intramural sports teams, including basketball, golf, rugby, and volleyball, as well as dodgeball and drop-in fitness classes.

The University of British Columbia Okanagan campus spans over more than 200 hectares and is located in the scenic Okanagan Valley. Okanagan Valley is home to many award-winning wineries, as well as a variety of outdoor recreation activities including golf, cycling, and hiking.

Kelowna, British Columbia is also home to a number of art galleries, theatres, museums, and several cultural festivals and waterfront parks.
