The King’s University College

Established in 1979 and located in Edmonton, Alberta, The Kings University College is a private arts post-secondary institution that offers an array of accredited bachelor’s degrees. A small university college, the schools mission and vision is deeply rooted in Christianity and applies these principles in the classroom, and through its academic programs.

Even though the school was established in the late 1970s, it did not have an official campus until 1993. Even though it is small, the school still has an international presence, with more than 20 off campus programs in locations around the world. The school also has a large number of international students that study on campus, representing about 20 countries.

The school is also part of many academic associations and organization such as the International Association for the Promotion of Christian Higher Education., Association of Christians Schools International, Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada, and many more.

Campus Life at King’s University College

A small campus with a small school feel, students have the opportunity to interact more closely with classmates, teachers and faculty members. Smaller class sizes offer students the chance to study in a more intimate classroom setting, allowing them to receive more personalized attention. However, one of the main selling points of the school is that you can work on your degree in a small community setting and still receive a “big school degree”. Students also have the chance to work with professors on research projects and other academic initiatives.

Academic Programs at King’s University College

While one might assume that course offering would be limited in smaller schools, King’s offers student’s more than 450 courses across 5 faculties and more than 12 majors. All programs are offered at the undergraduate level in the form of three or four year Bachelor degree programs.

  • Academic faculties: Arts, Education, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, and Interdisciplinary Studies.
  • Majors: Education, Arts, Music, Theology, Economics, Management and Commerce, Computer Science, Environmental Studies, and many more.

King’s also offers students a number of minors, education after degrees, certificates, and pre professional studies programs:

  • Minors: Business Administration, Communication Arts, Drama, Political Science, English, and more.
  • Education after Degree: Pre-Bachelor Education for Elementary and Pre- Bachelor Education for Secondary. There is also an Education after Degree offered for Music.
  • Certificates: Micah certificate, and youth ministry certificate.
  • Pre Professional Studies: Criminology, law, journalism, nursing, seminary, social work, veterinary medicine, and dentistry.

With a focus on Christian Higher Education and a large selection of courses and programs to select from, The King’s University College is a great option for students with a Christian background, international students, or students that are looking for a smaller school that provides and unique post-secondary education experience in the classroom and on campus.
