Quest University Canada, established in 2007 and located in Squamish, British Columbia, is a private non-profit liberal arts and sciences university. Quest University aims to educate students to become lifelong learners by providing a strong academic foundation and encouraging the development of individual intellectual strengths.
Courses are delivered on a block plan, which allows students to concentrate on one course at a time for just over three weeks. Quest University’s block plan allows students to closely engage with specific subject matter, and to focus on each course in a seminar-style setting. All students participate in experiential learning programs, in addition to completing a major thesis or senior project.
Quest University concentrates solely on the Bachelor of Arts and Sciences degree. Degree programs are divided into two two-year phases. Students complete a two-year foundational learning program, covering topics such as the social sciences, humanities, evolution, mathematics, language, and biodiversity. Following the completion of the foundation program, students work with faculty advisors to plan two years of concentration-based learning. Concentration programs require students to enhance their language skills, as well as participate in a variety of fieldwork placements and internships.
Quest University Canada is located on a 60-acre campus on the edge of Garibaldi Provincial Park. The University overlooks the rugged Tantalus mountain range and Howe Sound, which is Canada’s southern-most fjord.
As a newer post-secondary institution, students have the unique opportunity to help craft the University’s social future by pioneering the creation of clubs and organizations. Clubs at Quest University cover interests such as sports, poetry and theatre, community engagement, and lifestyle. Students also have a chance to participate in Model United Nations programs, as well as become involved in the production of student publications.
Quest University hosts events such as open mic nights, music festivals, leadership training, speakers series, and theatre productions.
Located an hour away from Vancouver and less than an hour away from Whistler, one of Canada’s most famous ski resorts, Squamish features an active social environment, including a variety of music festivals and cultural institutions.
