Northern Lights College

Northern Lights College was established in 1975 and is located in several communities across northern British Columbia. Northern Lights College is able to provide a unique regional advantage through extensive collaboration with industry, employers, communities, and policymakers. With direct partnerships to universities in British Columbia, the College is able to provide direct transfer credits that are applicable towards degrees and other programming.

The College’s mission is to provide the educational means for the continued growth and success of students, communities, and businesses in northern British Columbia. Northern Lights College seeks to achieve this mission by upholding several guiding principles:

Northern Lights College is known as British Columbia’s “Energy College”. The College offers a variety of certificate, diploma, and associated degree programs in fields such as Oil and Gas Training, Visual Arts, Geomatics, Clean Energy Technologies, Early Childhood Education, and Trades and Apprenticeship training.

Campus Life

Northern Lights College has several campuses across northern British Columbia, in communities such as Dawson Creek, Fort Nelson, and Fort St. John. Campuses feature a relaxing atmosphere, with outdoor patios, study areas, and lounges.

Students at Northern Lights College have access to a variety of student support services, including conflict resolution services, financial assistance, childcare, and learning support services.

The College offers students several opportunities to participate in a variety of recreational and extra-curricular activities, including Relay for Life, fundraising activities, luncheons, or dances. Northern Lights College is also home to a variety of community and intramural sports leagues, including volleyball, basketball, soccer, and floor hockey.

The Northern Lights College Students’ Association facilitates social, cultural, and recreational activities that allow students to make the most of their post-secondary education by engaging both academically and socially with their educational environment.
